Strength, Balance & Stretch:
Bobbi Broemme, a certified exercise instructor, leads this exercise class. It starts with gentle stretches, and works into exercises that improve cardio, strength, tone, and balance.
12 week class: $75 for members, $85 for non members, or $5 per class for visitors, all are welcome.
Tuesday & Friday mornings at 10 AM, September – May.
Chair Exercise:
Special Exercises designed for people who use assistive walking devices, or need assistance getting in or out of a chair or car.
We focus on increasing balance and strength, using weights, aerobics, and some standing exercises. (The standing exercises are modified for those who choose not to stand.)
Thursdays class focuses more on strength, while Mondays class focuses on core muscles needed for balance. Attending both is encouraged.
Classes are Monday & Thursday, 10:30-11:20 AM.
8 weeks, $40 for Gibson Members, $50 for non members. $5 per class
Ballroom Dance Class:
Alice Clapp teaches basic and advanced ballroom steps. Learn to waltz, foxtrot, swing, some Latin, and fun line dances that are part of many special functions.
Belly Dance Class:
Instructor: Joanne Bailey (Jamila) has been teaching Belly Dance for 15 years. The classes will be presented in an easy-to-follow format, which includes technique breakdown, drills, personalized pointers and simple combinations to apply the movements. No prior dance experience is required. Come learn the ancient art of Belly Dance! No matter what your age or shape, it’s a great way to exercise and have fun at the same time. Students will learn the basics of belly dancing, which include posture, isolations, shimmies, undulations and traveling steps. There will also be a brief introduction to the history of the dance and Middle Eastern rhythms.
What to Wear: Comfortable clothing that allows the body to move; for example, Yoga pants and a t-shirt, leotards and tights. Thick socks, flat soled (e.g., ballet) or sport-type shoes may be worn in class. A scarf or shawl may also be worn around the hips
Thursdays at 9AM in the Gibson Center Activity Room.
6 week session: $18 members, $24 non members, or $5 per class
Bowling:
Join the Gibson Bowling League. Mondays after lunch we will board the bus and travel to Saco Valley Sports Center where we will bowl two strings. This is a group that is more interested in having fun while exercising, then in competitive scores. The cost is $9 per class. Wii:
Practice your golf swing, play tennis, or horseshoes, go bowling, or join a boxing tournament. We meet in the Kay Reed Social Room on Wednesdays, from 10:30-1:30
Walking Club:
Friday Mornings, 10:00 AM . (In the Summer)
A group walks a meandering mile in North Conway, we look at flowers, and chat along the way.
There is also a second group that walks 2 miles at the same time.
