GIBSON GLEANINGS

 Barbara Ray

June 15, 2012

There was an afternoon, years ago when I happened to go out to lunch with my college roommate.  When her meal, consisting of a burger and fries arrived, she proceeded to remove from her burger what I considered a rather nice looking slice of tomato.  When I quizzed her on her action, she told me it wasn’t fresh!  Growing up on tomatoes that came in plastic containers wrapped in cellophane, I was more than a little confused by this remark.  It was some time later that I got my first taste of a freshly picked garden tomato.  That’s when her actions finally became clear.  Enjoy the summer harvest.

If you check your calendar you’ll probably realize that the 4th of July weekend is almost here.  (Technically, it’s a 30th of June weekend since July 4th falls on a Wednesday this year – but I digress.)  What I really want to say is our annual 4th of July Craft Fair will be taking place June 30th and July 1st.  (Have I confused you yet??)  Nonetheless, our craft fair will take place on those dates, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 – 5:00.  Karen has lined up a variety of crafters including fine jewelry, art, pottery, gourmet specialty foods, stained glass, woodcrafts, Adirondack chairs and more.  Mark your calendars and plan to spend some time with us on the Gilbson lawn.

Have a wonderful week and God bless!
