The AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities is an affiliate of the World Health Organization’s Age-Friendly Cities and Communities Program, an effort launched in 2006 to help cities prepare for rapid population aging.

Membership in the AARP Age Friendly Communities Network provides a framework for assessing and improving the region’s ability to become more Age-Friendly. The framework is based on the WHO’s domains of livable communities. These include Community Connections, Health, Housing, Outdoor Spaces and Transportation.

Our 12 Participating Towns:

Our Mission: Using the AARP Livable Community Framework, we combine the talents and resources from all of our 12 towns to further develop the Mount Washington Valley as a place for people of all ages and abilities to thrive.

Our Vision: Citizens of all ages can say they would rather live here than anywhere else

We have a multi-year commitment from our Selectmen and the leaders of many of our existing non-profits to coordinate our efforts, magnify each other’s work, seek opportunities to learn and replicate successful models and share best practices across our towns.  We are extremely fortunate to have the support of the New Hampshire and Maine AARP resources.  We encourage anyone to contact us to offer ideas or to participate.
